Job Summary

 

This Vocational Evaluator position is remote with weekly travel to Washington, DC. The Vocational Evaluator will be responsible for administering vocational and educational assessments to assist clients from various state Vocational Rehabilitation programs. The goal is to assist these clients with determining a vocational goal to find employment conducive to their functional abilities. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication and organizational skills.  The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational assessments and evaluations to consumers with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experiences.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Administering, scoring, and interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interests, achievements, and psychological tests.

  • Analyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational, and educational information.

  • Creating written reports outlining vocational aptitudes, interests, and abilities which are foundational to the vocational planning process.

  • Gathering occupational resource information for better service deliverables.

  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees for exchange of information and planning.

  • Partnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contacts when needed.

  • Traveling as required to satellite offices, schools and other community sites for testing and assessment purposes.

 

Job Skills and Qualifications (required at time of application)

 

  • Possess general knowledge of: a) theories, principles, and practices associated with vocational rehabilitation and the physical and mental capabilities related to the world of work; b) medical terminology, and psychology related to disease process; c) adjustment to disability or injury; and d) the physical and psychological limitations imposed by various disabilities.

  • Knowledge of counseling techniques sufficient to assist clients in overcoming problems related to the evaluation process.

  • Job analysis techniques sufficient to review and assess work demands.

  • Knowledge and experience in testing and evaluation.

  • Knowledge and experience with report writing.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word; proficient with paper based and computer-based assessment administration; familiarity with Zoom or similar conferencing platforms for the purpose of conducting evaluations virtually.

  • Selected applicant must have the means to travel locally as the job requires.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

 

Master's degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling or closely related (i.e. psychology, social work, mental health counseling, etc.) from an appropriately accredited institution; those who hold a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and possess a current and valid CRC, ICVE, or ABVE designation will be considered without experience; those who hold a master’s degree in a field closely related to Rehabilitation Counseling (i.e. psychology, social work, mental health counseling, etc.), with at least one year of full-time documented experience conducting evaluations with individuals with disabilities will be considered.

 

OR


Bachelor's degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or a closely related (i.e. psychology, social work, mental health counseling, etc.) from an appropriately accredited institution with two years of experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities;


OR


An equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

About Us:

 

Dixon & Associates, Inc. provides multiple services including vocational counseling, vocational evaluation, and vocational expert testimony in Social Security disability hearings. Established in 2012, Dixon & Associates, Inc has contracts with the Department on Disability Services, Rehabilitation Services Administration, Washington, DC, the state of Virginia’s Department of Blind & Vision Impaired, and the Social Security Administration Office of Adjudication & Review. Our Vocational Consultants provide vocational rehabilitation assessment, reemployment services, modified job analysis, occupational analysis, labor market research, vocational evaluations, and expert testimony. All rehabilitation services are supervised by our Director of Rehabilitation Services, Dr. Charlotte Dixon McCoy, Rh.D., CRC, LPC.
