Virtual Career Service Provider to High School Students (part time, contractual) Personalized Career Services, LLC is looking for an individual passionate about supporting high school students with disabilities. The virtual career services are offered during off-school hours, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and breaks. The service provider will be able to set their hours and will be compensated based on the amount of services rendered. This position may be best suited for a current advanced degree student or a recent college graduate. Prior experience is not required, training will be provided.


Responsibilities:
● Contact students’ families to schedule the career services.
● Work 1:1 with students virtually, usually for 1-hour sessions.
● Provide instruction, guidance, and coaching using pre-established materials and virtual courses. Topics may include career planning, job exploration, workplace readiness, first work experiences, postsecondary education/training, and self-advocacy.
● Document student progress according to the Maryland state guidelines. Submit documentation according to deadlines.
● Conduct occupational and labor market research based on student interests.
● Write reports and recommendations for career planning based on the information collected during the meetings.
● May need to collaborate with families and other service providers for students to participate in the services.

 

Requirements:
● Must be patient, understanding, and respectful in all interactions with students and families.
● Must be able to work with students of different backgrounds (race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, etc.), disabilities, communication styles, and cognitive abilities.
● Must have strong communication skills. Must be able to explain and adapt information to match students’ comprehension.
● Must have strong writing skills.
● Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
● Must provide documentation of a current background check.
● Must have reliable internet with audio and camera to conduct the meetings.
● Experience working with students or adults with disabilities is preferred.
● Experience providing career services or vocational rehabilitation services is preferred.
